Atelier BKPŠ is a former water reservoir in an industrial area of Dimitrovka, where chemicals and explosives were produced. It was built in 1906 to store about 600 hectolitres. The architects rebuilt it in 2008 as a headquarter of their atelier.
Maybe it is not one of the trendy spots people like to visit, but for me it is somehow special. When I visit this amazing building I felt like I was not in Bratislava. How is it possible that architects from atelier BKPŠ made their dream come true, especially here in Bratislava where everything old at genius locations is replaced with new glass office buildings.
Rawness, cleanliness, industrial look, scary feeling (when going upstairs on the outer side), those are some keywords. It also has the best view on the whole area and an amazing interior. Btw to go inside you have to go through the original steel door. The architects set a lift in the centre and you pass first three empty floors to get to their office.
This is architecture of which I am proud to have. Go look at it.
