Dobrý trh literally means ‘good market’. It usually takes place three times a year in three different locations. The one on Panenská street is the original one. It started here as a neighborhood marketplace and it grew to this huge event.
The second one called Jakubák is organized on Jakubovo square and is focused on slow, traditional produce practices and exploring of crafts. The third one in the Old market place is the only one located inside, because it’s always around Christmas.
Dobrý trh works with locals sellers or food providers. The whole market is designed as a zero-waste place. Everywhere there are recycling trash bins with volunteers helping you choose the right bin, which is also educational. You can find stalls with local clothing brands, books, antiques, homemade cakes and syrups, lemonades, jam and also food stalls. There is also a special place for children called Kids market where kids can play and also sell their own creations and learn more about the value of money.
Dobrý trh is also a place of workshops and concerts, but be prepared to be squashed by the crowd because the events are so popular. Still, I personally think the atmosphere is worth it.
The next one is on December 15th.
