Summer in Bratislava offers the possibility of a lot more outdoor activities, such as this bar on a boat, moored on the dead shoulder (called Karloveske) of the Danube river, which is open during the summer and autumn months.
Not only it is a great opportunity to relax and enjoy the riverside when the weather is nice, it is also one of those rare local spots which have not succumbed to any foreign trends, and it offers traditional drinks such as beers, Kofola (local Cola) or Hroznovka (grape lemonade) at prices which nowadays you cannot see very often in Bratislava. Therefore, Mark Twain awakes a little bit of nostalgia and feels like a return to the past or to the countryside.
It goes without saying that chilling out on an old boat that looks like it’s from Mark Twain’s novels sounds much more fun that just going to a regular bar 🙂 The place is very calm, surrounded by nature, and if you’ve had enough “sailing” you can enjoy a nice walk or bike ride along the river on the dedicated cycling and pedestrian path.
