Regal is an establishment which kicked-off the fashion of hamburgers in Bratislava. It has been the first proper burger place making the burgers with homemade buns, huge pieces of ground 100% beef and fresh vegetables and sauces to accompany them.
It started in a tiny space with just a couple of small tables and an open kitchen on the Palackeho street near the Old Theater. This one still works, but their new restaurant on the top of the Alizee building right at the entrance of the Old Town is the one I would recommend to visit now, as it has a huge terrace with a surprising and really unique view of the city. It enables you to combine eating and sightseeing without a need to move 🙂 The rooftop restaurant also has an exotic-looking bar with swings instead of chairs and a nice selection of drinks, so it lets you linger a while longer and enjoy the sunset over the roofs of the city center’s houses and churches. The place is really hard to spot if you don’t know where to look for it, so follow the map closely.
The hamburgers are served in a classic way – wrapped in paper in breadbaskets and usually eaten with the hands. If you’re not really in a mood for burgers, you can also discover their new selection of Mexican streetfood, including tacos, burritos and quesadillas.
