If you are looking for an unorthodox spot right in the city center, Steinplatz is a perfect place for you. It used to be public toilets and they have been turned into this pub. The main bar is downstairs and you barely notice the entrance from the outside. You open a little door and the stairs will take you underground to a small cozy place with mismatched furniture and brick walls covered in posters, musical instruments and other memorabilia.
During the summer there is a terrace on top of the roof of former toilets but you definitely get the best sense of this place inside. They serve great beer and other alcoholic beverages and also soft drinks. The whole place has a punk vibe, so I was really surprised that they treat every table to a ball of delicious popcorn as a snack. The best part: they refill it through the night and it’s free.
My only warning is that you can smoke cigarettes there and also in the basement there are no windows, so you do the math. Also, bring cash.
