I admit I have never been to Greece and my knowledge of the Greek cuisine is limited to the Greek salad. Therefore, the discovery of this Greek bistro in Bratislava, Suvlaki bistro, was something very new to me.
I was lucky enough to have a job close to this place, which is situated near the tram line in the wider city center of Bratislava. When looking for a lunch place with a couple of friends, I recalled seeing this place from the tram window so I proposed we went and tried it out. The result: we went there and nowhere else for the rest of the week 🙂
I don’t know if it is Greek food in general or the young Greek cooks in this small restaurant that are so smart, but I hardly ever had a better Caesar’s salad (made with chicken gyros), bean soup, fish or stuffed tomatoes. My testing team also declared their pork gyros as the best out there!
If you’re looking for something fast, cheap, yet really authentic and delicious, make sure to stop by our Greek friends. Just remember that during the lunch rush hours it tends to be pretty packed, but if you don’t manage to get in you can still have a takeaway and eat your treat in the nearby garden Medicka.
