Zlaté Piesky means Golden Sand:). Well, in a city like Bratislava, one without a seaside, this lake and its area are really worth gold during warm days.
The lake itself is the biggest of the city. The area has an entrance close to the tram station. This side of the lake is well kept; there are many trees, where one can hide in the shade as well as numerous possibilities to do some (water) sports. Most of the hash houses are also located here. They serve typical Slovak fast food. If you have missed cold draft beer or kofola until now, it is high time to give it a try.
Since there is also a camping area at the lake’s area, there is another entrance for the campers, which can be easily found while driving your car. Here you can become the next guest!
The “free of charge” side of the lake is hardly accessible without a car. However, if you prefer to enjoy the sunshine naked, you’d better get to THAT side (the one further from the centre). This shore is also well known as the gay friendly one. Here you will not suffer from hunger or thirst either; you can find a well-equipped hash house right by the “entrance”.
A day on the “beach” enjoying sunshine? Lángoš and kofola? Fishing? The Zlaté Piesky Lake is just the right choice. It is definitely my choice :).
