I love a good plate of “bryndzové halušky”, which is a typical Slovak food, but I love to try foreign cuisines. Therefore I am very lucky, because in recent years Bratislava has become very inclusive food-wise and the variety of different types of food has become incredible. Ty Somaru offers, in my opinion, great Mexican food in town. Their concept is based on street food, so you can order your burritos or quesadillas to go, or you can eat in their festive decorated bistro.
You can choose between burritos, tacos, nachos or quesadillas and also choose type of meat and salsa, so the menu is not extensive but oh so versatile. I love this style of serving because I believed that it makes ingredients fresh and you can come here as many times as you want and always try some new combination.
Ty Somaru also sells their own beer or other common or Mexican-inspired drinks. Ty Somaru means “you are a jackass”, which in Slovak you can take as a suggestion that you are not the most intelligent person. The creators of the shop has once described TY Somaru as a place with great food and bad humor. But the quality of their food is no joke and their dedication to ecological separation of their waste is admirable.
