YMCA building Bratislava

YMCA building – 1 culture space, 2 clubs, 3 bars

YMCA building is well known among young people as a bar & culture hub. The building was built in 1923 and can be identified by old bricks.

There is a former cinema, now a concert hall MMC (Majestic Music Club) on the 1st floor. It’s only open when a concert is scheduled.

A4 – a space for contemporary culture as a bar and a stage, where various underground artists perform. There are also lectures and discussions, workshops and festivals. I like craft beers at the bar.

In the basement there is my favourite punk-rock pub Randal (and one floor above is Hopkirk). It seems they are named after the TV series, but they’re not. Randal is written with one L and means noise. You will find out why :-). You can have pizza for € 5 and beer or various shots. Do not expect a tidy place. Tables, walls, wardrobe, toilets, everything is a little punky, but with a great atmosphere. Not suitable for a first date :-), but great for meeting musicians, playing table football or just having fun with friends. Be prepared for cigarette smoke.

There are another 3 pubs in the building and you can also have a drink outside, during the summer there’s a terrace in front and there’s a second one on the first floor. Upstairs there’s Hopkirk which is great if you are more electro friendly. Many DJs play many styles. Go and order Absinth if you are strong enough. They have over 50 samples.

Enjoy every nook of the building.
