Place Sainte-Catherine is definitely one of Brussels’ most famous and characteristic zones. St-Cath (short for Place Sainte-Catherine) is really a mix of locals and travellers. If you come back here later in the evening, the place will be full of people having a beer or a glass of wine at the ponds, creating a really nice evening atmosphere!

Place Sainte-Catherine is really popular with tourists, although it’s maybe even more popular with locals. It is very versatile. You have a lot of trendy bars and fancy restaurants, but when the weather’s good, people will be sitting in the middle of the square with some self-brought drinks. If you want to eat fish in Brussels, this is the place to be! As it used to be the ancient port of Brussels, many fish restaurants are still located in this area. Other than fish restaurants, you can basically find any kind of cuisine you want in the restaurants nearby. If it’s a hot day and you’re in the mood for ice cream, head to Gaston Brussels! Looking for a bar to have a drink and maybe dance a bit? Head to Madame Moustache!

Other than food and drinks, the place is also known for its church, built in the 19th century. If you enter, you can have a look at the stone statue of the Black Madonna.

This is a place I really like to go to on a sunny afternoon or a summer night, I absolutely love the vibe here!
