Aviatorilor Neighborhood – The rich and historic

I know most of you come to Aviatorilor for Herastrau Park or the Village Museum. And you should. Actually the Village Museum is one of my favorite places. But right now I want to give you a new reason to come to this area: to wander its backstreets.

You know the 19th century houses in the Old Town? Would you like to see them in good shape, lived in, with green and flowery gardens? Then take a stroll down Emanoil Porumbaru street, Popa Savu and many others linking Aviatorilor boulevard with Kiselef or Dorobanti.

This is a very quiet neighborhood that can show you how the other half lives in Bucharest while offering you a lesson in architecture history. You can find a few places to eat tucked in some of these houses, so keep an eye out, but if you want more options I suggest you finish your walk in the area of Dorobanti.

Oh, and if you’re in the area we might bump into each other since I work close-by, so don’t be a stranger.
