Whenever I feel like having a vacation in my own city, there are certain places I go to that make me step out of life as I know it and travel… mindfully somewhere. One such place is “Camera din Fata” (or The Room in the Front).
What I absolutely love about the place is that all tables are former sewing machines ones, repurposed to fit the atmosphere that reminds you of the good times you had as a child at your grandparents’. The music in the background is usually Romanian old music, but also international oldies, just perfect to make your trip down memory lane a smooth journey.
There are all sorts of goodies to buy for home as well, including a wide range of tea types, but also sorbets, jams and other yummy things. Everything is flavored by the “espression” of the day (you guess it, from the coffee), which is pearls of wisdom the lovely staff write on a board by the entrance.
In the summer, they take some of the sewing machines tables out on the sidewalk. Add a Sunday, sunshine and a dolce-far-niente mood and you’re set for an awesome day!
