Getting in a Christmas mood while also visiting one of the most important sights of Budapest? Say yes to this Christmas fair which was recently voted as one of the most beautiful all over the world.
The awe-inspiring location gets even more magical at nightfall (after 16:30) when the Basilica is illuminated by 3D mappings. But the second most important factor at the Christmas fair are the different shops where you can get presents for your family and friends – handcrafted goodies or pieces of Hungarian gastronomy, whichever suits them best!
Speaking about food, don’t miss trying the bejgli or the flódni, these Hungarian specialties which rely heavily on poppy seed and walnuts, with a mug of mulled wine — the perfect combination to warm you up on even the coldest winter days.
Oh, and don’t forget the programs – ice rink free of charge for children (and the sporty ones of course) and cultural events like dance shows await the visitors.
The fair will be open until January the 1st, so you have the possibility to check it out even if you come to Budapest for a New Year’s Eve party.
