A happy find in the 5th district — such a historical neighbourhood for a coffee house & restaurant like Börze (Bourse in English), which refers to the former stock exchange building the spot currently occupies.
It’s got a French-Hungarian elegant style, cosy interior and furniture. It gives me a feeling of having gone back to the 1900s and having a coffee with a view to the street that’s over 500 years old.
Although they serve fine coffee, I would say their specialty is lunch with excellent value. For 5-6 EUR they offer a 2-course menu made with fine, fresh daily ingredients. I had a romantic dinner there too, which was also top notch!
The cuisine is contemporary Hungarian-French, offering courses from the former great Hungarian Empire. You should try chicken paprikash, goulash soup which are both must-tries during a visit to Hungary. We Hungarians still do eat it on a regular basis, it’s part of our culture!
Make sure to book –they are quite popular among locals and tourists both. Excellent location, too
Have a try at Börze!
