Finding Bubō was for the result of a long quest for the perfect spot around Margaret Bridge. I’ve known Bubō since its opening, but I would always get just take-away coffees on my way to the Island, where I often meet with friends for an early morning workout. Here come the first and the second reasons that made me like this place: it’s open at 7am – not that frequent in Budapest – and it’s ideal as a place to sit outside and work. I have this thing that if the sun is uncovered I need to be out there too.
Digital nomads know how many faulty details can make even the nicest bar not suitable for work. Bubō, instead, seems to know which good ones make the difference. The caffeine choice is on point; there’s a healthy and interesting menu with all-day breakfast, seamless wifi, firm tables (believe me, it matters!) and smiley staff. Let’s call it strategic, too: squeezed between Pozsonyi, the coolest street of the XIII district, the Grand Boulevard and Margaret Bridge, it’s easy to reach both with line 4-6 and with the scenic Tram N.2.
One last notice: on that sunny day, the weather changed all of a sudden. I was at a table outside writing and it took me a while to notice that it was raining heavily. Even then, I didn’t have to go inside, as Bubō’s terrace is perfectly water-proof.
