I didn’t understand all the fuss about bagels until last summer. What happened? Well, I gave in and tried Budapest Bagel, hoping to understand the craze, and I did. More than that, I was completely hooked right away!
That’s because these guys take the bagel business very seriously. They experimented with several recipes until they found the one they deemed the best and which they use today, to everyone’s happiness. The bagel is fresh, soft but crunchy, with a lot of poppy or sesame seeds.
But it’s the inside that counts, right? So the bagel at Budapest Bagel is filled with so much goodness that I personally can’t eat a whole bagel for lunch. I reserve part of it for later, which also means that the pleasure lasts longer.
My absolute favorite is the classic bagel with salmon and capers. Just unbeatable! But I also often opt for their vegetarian bagels – they have just created options with gorgonzola and brie – a must for cheese lover like myself.
The place itself is tiny, but you can have a seat outside with your lemonade at the table with other people while you eat, which I think is lovely!
