OK, there is no meth at all, instead there is a steampunk style laboratory with a shameless amount of quality beers. The Hungarian craft beer revolution has just started recently and Élesztő took the leading role in it, also the Guardian remembered it in its beer bar top 10 lately.
Élesztő counts to be the most authentic beer spot in Hungary nowadays, located several tram stations away from the Jewish district’s nightlife madness. The club represents industrial urban lifestyle, mixing the ruin pub feeling with steampunk style. Its area is huge (1200 m2 approximately), including an open garden and several rooms.
The construction was used by glassblowers a century ago and has eyewitnessed the uprising of the heroes of the street (“Tűzoltó utcai ellenállók”) during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. Now it is becoming a beer village, growing constantly.
Élesztő is a happy, smart, democratic 21st-century hippie community and it welcomes anyone interested in not only drinking but also understanding the philosophy of quality craft beers. The liquid is spectacularly drafted in the metal barrel laboratory, you can choose from a wide range of Hungarian and international specialty beers from over twenty different taps. Perfect circumstances to lose yourself softly like a gentleman.
