Did you know that there is a Silicon Valley counterpart in Budapest? At least this is what Graphisoft, the software company was aiming at when they were searching for a place back in 1999. A year later brand new premises along with a beautiful and well-designed park appeared in the North of Budapest, and the company moved in there. Later on, both famous international IT companies along with local start-ups moved in.

Why visit? The park hosts open-air permanent art installations, namely sculptures made by contemporary Hungarian artists. Probably, the most famous is the first in the world statue of Satoshi Nakamoto, a person or a group of persons who invented Bitcoin and devised the first blockchain database. Since no one has ever seen the real person behind this name, the statue’s face is also quite generic and lacks details, thus referring to the saying ‘we are all Satoshi Nakamoto’. Among other statues, you can find Steve Jobs and Rubick’s cube monuments.

Moreover, the park is situated on the bank of the Danube and has a lake with huge fish. Therefore, it is a nice place to have a stroll and enjoy views of the Óbudai Island (Hajógyári Island),  enjoy contemporary art, and even peak into the office buildings to see the IT people at work.

Bonus: since the park is situated near the ruins of the former Gas Factory, you can still enjoy the view of the colorful gas factory towers nearby.
