The garden of the first museum institute of Hungary has been open for everyone since the very beginning of its foundation in the 19th century. Here one can always find some peace just next to the busiest square of Budapest. Múzeumkert offers not only some refreshment but also a lot of interesting details about Hungarian history.
This garden has always been one of my favourite place to chill. I would sit on the giant stairs of the museum as a student (I went to university next door) and there was a lot of great programs held outdoors here such as festivals, concerts or the open-air streaming of the last football World Cup. And still it is not crowded at all, I can always find a vacant bench to listen to the many birds coming here. Around the park you can easily find great places to bring a cappuccino or some food and have a nice lunch. Check the spots nearby!
Furthermore, the whole garden has been recently renovated. All of the ancient trees have been kept intact and a lot of nice plants and flowers have been planted around the curving paths. I can highly recommend visiting the exhibitions inside as well, although you’ll find a few old statues in the park also.
