If you haven’t been to lake Balaton (the largest one in Central Europe), you haven’t really seen Hungary. All right, it is a one-day trip from Budapest, but at least, you can taste it! Paletta serves it at its best for you.
Already had well-known bistros at the lake, Paletta moved from the Balaton in Tompa utca in 2017. Here you can find delicious courses made with organic ingredients (fish, Mangalitsa pig, Hungarian Grey cattle, mushrooms, veggies) and all from local producers around the beautiful Balaton. The menu is seasonal and the flavors are pure but strong.
They have excellent wines from this famous volcanic region and craft beers as well. In the evenings there is a good chance you’ll get a personal wine suggestion from the committed owner, Daniel Bezerics. You can even chose one from his family’s winery.
I regularly have lunch here as well, because around noon they offer a nice three-course-lunch for a moderate price (11:30-15:00).
The quality standard is high and stable, the stuff is very friendly and the wines… well, you will definitely ask for a second glass.
