Despite the fact  that Cairo is one of the most crowded capitals in the world, I still find a places to stay in peace and quiet. For almost 500 years, Azhar park used to be just mountains of rubbish, until they decided to change it to a public garden listed as one of the world’s sixty greatest public spaces.

It’s almost 30 hectares (300,000m2) with an altitude of 62m above sea level. It opens its gates early in the morning, so I go and enjoy an early run in the largest garden in Cairo.

At noon, sitting there with a book in hand and a music headset over my ears completes the perfect picture of joy for me.

Before sunset, I’d rather have a view from this that’spark located in the heart of old historic Cairo and commands stunning panoramic views of the world’s most intriguing city. The lush green landscaped gardens make your stay there enjoyable. Beside that, I can enjoy watching many of Cairo’s major tourist attractions.

Azhar park also has many restaurants, but my favourite one would be the citadel restaurant (which is currently closed for renovation) for its perfect views over the citadel.

In a nutshell, Azhar park is satisfying all of my moods, whether I’m feeling active, relaxed or hungry.
