Darb 1718 is a contemporary art space in old Cairo with a laid back and informal atmosphere where you sit on a bean bag and enjoy the show or get your creative juices flowing in anyway they wish.
Darb 1718 hosts many events, workshops, concerts, film screenings and more. In addition to that, there’s a rooftop for concerts (how amazing is that?). Darb 1718 is located in Al Fustat which was the old Egyptian capital. At that time, it was a center of art and culture, Darb 1718 is nestled in a place surrounded by the ruins of Roman civilization as well as Islamic and Coptic monuments. One of the most prominent workshops there for me is the pottery workshop (other workshops include: ceramic painting, leather products, creative writing and more).
One thing that really stands out for me there is their contemporary art gallery which really helps young Egyptian artists. It’s a place that encourages creativity, fun and self-expression through art and music.
