Saying beer is a “trend” in Chicago is an understatement. Beer is a movement and a religion in this Midwestern city, so what places should you go to? There are so many great spots and a few happen to be cozily situated along the north Ravenswood Tracks dubbing themselves a part of “Malt Row.” Begyle Brewing Company is one that I keep coming back to. This straightforward, no-frills industrial space makes some solid beers and is 100% backed by our local community. Since their founding in 2012, they have continuously evolved their offerings from easy drinkin’ ipas and ales to interesting seasonal stouts which continues their production of happiness for all the beer nerds.
They don’t offer any food, but a few packaged snacks (e.g. nuts, jerky), but often partner with food trucks or local restaurants for pop-ups, so be sure to check their social media and website for those updates.
They offer tours on Saturdays, but one of the coolest experiences is actually their beer & yoga on Sundays. For 20 bucks, every Sunday at 11:00 a local yogi coaches you through a vinyasa class (suitable for all levels) which includes a beer after the session. It’s a great way to round out the weekend with a little mind, body and beer.
