Bird’s Nest – Best wings in Chicago

A couple of years ago, I went on a self-proclaimed “wing rampage” where I went around the city trying to find the best buffalo wings. A friend and I even went to Wingfest in search of the best. I am here to report that Bird’s Nest – at the corner of Southport and Altgeld – has the best wings in the city. I say this for several reasons: the flavor, the crunch and the size.

I’m a traditionalist when it comes to wings – I like regular buffalo sauce. Sometimes I’ll get the spicy garlic sauce at Bird’s Nest (not on the menu), but I have friends who get teriyaki or BBQ, and they all get great reviews. Anyways, the sauce is SO good. It has the perfect spice. Also, the wings are not soggy – they are crisp and have a nice crunch. Last, the wings are meaty. Not the small wings that seem to have come from a baby chicken, but big meaty wings.

Thursday and Sunday nights are wing nights where the wings and pitchers of beer are cheaper (about 1/2 price). However, that does mean that it will be packed. Sometimes, you can wait over an hour for wings. In my opinion, it is worth it. Also, on occasion they have live music and the wait staff is always very nice.
