Next to the very trendy and chic Barrio in River North is La Bodega del Barrio, a café/bar meets corner store serving up specialty churros, coffees, and tacos.

The walk-up counter serves breakfast tacos until 11 a.m., but boozy drinks and dessert are a major component of the all-day appeal of this little shop. Patrons can choose from a variety of fun flavored churros including nostalgic kid’s cereal fruity pebbles to the more sophisticated options like toasted coconut or red velvet. Of course, you can add ice cream and other toppings or just straight up make it a churro sundae, because why not?

The shop is a curated bodega with spirits, wine and beer, as well as artisanal treats, coffee beans and non-alcoholic beverages.

There’s not a lot of seating, just a few bar seats, so not ideal for large groups unless you’re taking it all to-go. It does house one of the most ‘Instagramable’ floors in Chicago with the famous “This Must Be The Place” tile quote embedded into the black and white tiles. So, enjoy a treat and take an overhead picture of it and your feet – if that’s your thing
