Every gal (or guy) needs a go-to neighborhood coffee spot. For me, that go-to spot for a coffee and snack is Cafe Tola.
On weekends, the line always snakes around the building. The fact that people are willing to wait in line for a coffee and an empanada is a sign that this place is a neighborhood gem. There aren’t any tables or chairs inside Cafe Tola, so be prepared to take your coffee and empanada on the go. However, if you are lucky, you can snag one of the few tables outside on a nice day.
My favorite coffee is the Misto, which is basically a coffee with steamed milk. I also like their iced coffees, flavored with coconut or lavender. The empanadas are also heavenly with different combinations daily. I personally like the breakfast combos with eggs and veggies.
As you are leaving, check out the street art on both sides of the building. It’s always changing, and there was once a huge mural of Kanye West’s face. At least visit Cafe Tola for the Instagram.
