Ceres Cafe is located in the heart of the Chicago Loop in the Board of Trade Building. In the mornings, the atmosphere is quiet and occupied by your typical breakfast meetings and business people reading the paper over a cup of coffee. During the lunch hour things start hoppin’ with more people on their lunch breaks coming in for hearty and reasonably priced salads, soups, sandwiches and other daily specials.

At about 15:00 in the afternoon is when this place transforms into the most crowded after work place in the Loop. Ceres is notorious for their after work crowd. To better explain why this place has such a reputation, I should mention that when ordering a rum and coke you will be served a can of coke and full glass of rum! Who wouldn’t want one of these bad boys at the end of a hard work day? All of the mixed drinks are served this way; gin and tonic = a full glass of gin with a can of tonic to wash it down. And their beers and wines are not expensive considering their prime location in the Loop, which can often increase what you have to pay.

Bonus, you can ask for free popcorn or order up some of their after 14:00 snacks like the artichoke dip which has a kick!
