Opened in 2010, Chicago Distilling Company is a small batch distillery in Logan Square. On Milwaukee Avenue near the California and Fullerton intersection, it’s right down the block from Revolution Brewing. The place is family owned and operated by two brothers who left the corporate life and followed their passions and interests deep into the distilling casks. They, along with their staff, are laid-back, friendly and accommodating.
The interior is cool – it’s very open with exposed wooden overhead beams and brick walls. The table seating is communal so it’s great to sip a craft cocktail while making new friends. Behind the bar you can see their distillery in action. The actual distillery is very small, but they give tours to visitors which are both fun and educational.
Right now, they are making gin, vodka and a white whiskey, and since they are a distillery, they can only sell what they brew. Don’t expect any Bud Light or even Kettle One on their menu. The cocktail menu has something for everyone, even tasting flights for connoisseurs. Stay for a drink or take home a bottle of their spirits and become your own mixologist.
