The collaboration of artists that occurs any night of the week at Gallery is a true testament to what this place is about. The décor enlivens your senses with the artwork of local artists hanging on every inch of wall space.
My favorite nights of the week to stop in are Sundays and Thursdays to check out some of Chicago’s local talent of musicians and comedians during open mic. It’s always a pleasure talking to the owner Kenny who is the most genuine guy and always has great stories to share while he’s pouring your drinks.
Gallery Cabaret is one of Chicago’s oldest neighborhood corner bars serving up cheap pitchers of beer and reasonably priced cocktails to a myriad of characters that wander in. I have been coming to Gallery since I moved to the city in 2006 and some of my fondest memories are the stories of the people I’ve met here or times I have had in this joint.
In the words of Kenny, the Gallery is a place where “you [can] walk into [the] joint, buy a drink, and enjoy live entertainment like comedy or music just for being there and being a patron”. This is a rare gem in a city that’s constantly adding new things, so if you get the chance to stop in, say hello for me!
