This taproom and brewery on the west side of Chicago is a great place to have an experience with some friends. The massive complex houses a restaurant, multiple taproom spaces, a giant brewery production, live music and more.
When you walk in, you might think you’re in Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory and not a brewery in Chicago. The design of the place is a bit funky. There are psychedelic murals, trippy music and a hodgepodge of basement furniture from the 1970s. That’s just the first floor of Lagunitas Chicago. Walk up the stairs and you’re in a huge restaurant space which often features live music. There is tons of seating and of course all of the brewery’s beers are on tap and available. In fact, you’ll find many brews that they currently aren’t distributing available to taste here. I always go with the samplers where you can try as many of the beers as possible, responsibly.
There is a great shareable menu of small plates, burgers and sandwiches to soak up some of that delicious beer. Don’t forget to take the tour. It’s free and everyday that the brewery is open they offer tours of the complex. You might have to wait in line, but go ahead and grab a pint and the time will fly by.
