Maggie Daley Park Chicago

Maggie Daley Park – Playground oasis on Lake Shore

Maggie Daley Park is a relatively new spot downtown, located between Lake Shore Drive and Millennium Park. It is named after the late wife of the former Chicago Mayor, Richard Daley. Originally opened in the winter of 2015, the elaborate ice skating ribbon stands out to me the most. It’s so much different than your typical ice skating rink. The ribbon meanders around the climbing wall with trees on the outside and an outstanding view of one of the best skylines in the world.

As I mentioned, there is a climbing wall which is a cool thing to see in the downtown area. It is 40 feet high and can hold up to 100 climbers at a time. Along with the ribbon and climbing wall, there is a picnic area, a massive jungle gym, children’s play area and a lot of open space as well. It’s open all year round with a little something for the whole family and you’ll often see parents bring their children here for a slice of open space among the skyscrapers.
