Margie’s Candies is a neighborhood favorite in Chicago that serves up their delicious old-fashioned sundaes, pies and candies all year long.  You can choose your favorite flavors when building your own banana split, sundae or whatever ice cream dream you can think of. One of my favorites is the turtle sundae: it combines their warm hot fudge and caramel sauce, which allows me the privilege of enjoying both without having to choose, because they are both so good! And, with options like coconut, butter pecan and chocolate peanut butter, you will find that the quality of their ice cream and ingredients is like taking a trip to a soda shop in the 1950s when everything was homemade and not processed in a factory.

Both of their locations continue to serve up the same homemade goodness as when they began almost a century ago. If you’re looking for a tasty treat of Chicago’s history visit the Montrose location (pictured) or the original Margie’s at 1960 N Western Ave. The Beatles and Rolling Stones were known to frequent the original.
