Pastoral Chicago

Pastoral – Fancy wine and cheese

Pastoral is a place that I don’t go too often. Reason being: it’s pretty expensive. However, whenever I’m feeling like I just want some good cheese or bread, or the fanciest sandwich I can find, I go to this spot. There are a few of these places around town but I usually find myself up at the one in Lakeview. At this location they have a wine bar with specially made wine on tap and a cheese bar for tasting. This is really a great place to go if you want to impress them with your fanciness or how throwing around money isn’t a big deal.

The sandwich and shop side of this Pastoral is really good. They will make you a sandwich where every part of it has a name and a history. The sandwiches are actually pretty reasonable but a little on the small side. Their sausage selection is quite good and their cheese is phenomenal. The people that work here are quite helpful and not at all pretentious. Even the owner is a cool guy.

When it comes to wine I’ve not really checked this place out. I usually just go to Benny’s.

You can buy a lot of locally produced specialty cheese as well as sausage at Pastoral but I warn you, it’s easy spend more money than you were expecting when you hit the register.
