Tucked away in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Wicker Park’s Division Street is this quaint little joint called Phyllis’ Musical Inn. Phyllis’ has been a staple in the area for many years. It has endured the neighborhood changes with their dedicated regulars and patrons that chance upon this place and enjoy the vintage charm and cheap booze.
The staff is quite the cast of characters that set the stage for an interesting experience to say the least. Phyllis’ supports local artists by featuring local bands and acts nightly. Most nights there is no cover for their music acts. Sometimes on Fridays and Saturdays, if they have a more popular line up, they charge 5 bucks, which in my opinion is still pretty darn cheap for a live music show.
If you want to see real Chicago musicians, real Chicago locals and have some cheap drinks at a true Chicago dive, please don’t be deterred by the ragged decor, this place is truly local and awesome in my opinion.
