There’s no shortage of pizza offerings in Chicago, but if you are looking for a great no-frills spot with stylish ambience and creative toppings, Robert’s hits the spot.
Tucked away along the Ogden Slip, Robert’s is a hidden gem in Chicago’s bustling downtown Streeterville neighborhood. The owner Robert has been tinkering with the recipe for his pizza dough for years, and it has become one of my personal favorites. A NY native, he is elevating thin-crust pizza to deliver some big flavor to a city of hungry pizza connoisseurs.
Pizza is only as good as its toppings so if you’re a traditionalist there is a red sauce, cheese and meat option like the carne (Sausage, Pepperoni, Meatballs, Red Sauce, Fresh Mozzarella), but you can also get more adventurous with options like the Chorizo (Spanish chorizo, piperade, whipped goat cheese, cherry tomatoes, olive, manchego). A personal favorite is the Brussel Sprouts & Bacon (Brussels sprouts, dates, smoked mozzarella, bacon, balsamic glaze) which has the perfect balance of salty and sweet with the balsamic glaze.
This is a great spot to grab a glass of wine or beer at the bar solo or dine with a group on the patio along the river to enjoy pizza made with some creativity.
