Rossi's Chicago

Rossi’s – Hidden dive bar near the Loop

Located just north of the river on State Street is by far the best dive bar in the downtown area. Rossi’s has what every great dive bar should have… it’s dark with Christmas lights, cash only, a jukebox, an eclectic mix of patrons, cheap canned beer, barely functioning bathrooms, packaged beer to go and bartenders with attitude. Also, if you look hard enough, you’ll notice that someone there likes the Pittsburgh Steelers because there are several stickers on the wall. And this bar opens at 07:00…

The thing I like most is the atmosphere. It seems like every time I go there, something interesting/strange happens, but in my opinion, that is fun and makes me want to go back. Rossi’s will never be confused with a classy bar. However, it’s a bar that is not pretentious. You will see people who look like they should probably call it a night and go home and you’ll see people dressed in suits coming from a wedding. Rossi’s is kind of hard to describe – it’s something you must experience. If you are a fan of dive bars, give it a shot (and a beer).
