Chicago has a deep history with magic, as close-up magic was pioneered right here in the city. There are a lot of different shows around, but you can’t go wrong with the show at the Trickery.
The Trickery hosts an hour-long show most nights of the week with an early and late show on weekends. It’s a one-man show led by a magician named Aaron who is assisted by “Hoppy the Psychic Wonder Bunny” as well as some brave souls in the audience.
Aaron is funny, engaging, and he keeps the show fast-moving. He performs miracle after miracle leaving the audience with their jaws to the ground. From reading minds to performing “danger magic”, there’s a ton of variety in the show.
Also – the show is BYOB! There’s a 7/11 down the street where you can buy a bottle of wine or beer to enjoy during the show. There are cups and bottle openers at the venue, so all you need to do is bring the booze.
Buy your tickets early because it’s a small venue and it’s been sold out every time I’ve seen the show. I bring everyone who visits me in Chicago to see this show, so don’t miss out!
