Since my childhood I’ve lived in Köln-Sülz, and especially during the last ten years, my “Veedel” has turned out to be a very popular neighborhood for young families. Many old-established shops had to close due to rising rents and different needs and there is surely no lack of places to have coffee.

Café Rubi stands out from many other coffee spots in Sülz. It combines a nicely designed interior with great and ambitious coffee and food.

Concerning the coffee, all your desires will be fulfilled! They prepare delicious espresso and cappuccino with coffee beans from Cologne’s coffee roaster “Ernst” (also worth a visit!). But they also offer a range of different filter coffees which are carefully prepared by the barista. Besides the coffee (and of course the tea and cold beverages) you have a choice of cakes, toasts and soups – for vegans, too! 

The café’s interior is bright and spacious, tables and chairs are pure and tasteful and the high brick walls are real eye-catchers. Why don’t you take a seat between the cushions in the shop windows and watch what is happening outside on the quite busy Berrenrather Straße?
