You know those days when you want to enjoy a drink surrounded by plants and nature but it’s too cold to meet your friends outside? Whenever I feel like that I tend to go to Die hängenden Gärten.
The direct translation of the name means “hanging gardens”. And when you look at the ceiling you’ll know why: it is covered with red roses all over. Well, of course these are plastic roses, but who really cares?
I like to come quite early after the doors open so I can claim a spot on one of the comfy sofas in the back of the bar.
The bar is dipped in red light, which combined with the red flowers on the ceiling creates a warm, dim atmosphere. The DJ chooses different styles of music on different days — still the music never fails to underline that dim atmosphere. The later during the evening, the more people feel free to dance.
As they offer a great selection of bottled beers, you don’t have to stick to Koelsch.
And if you want to be outside anyway, you can walk the Vogelsanger street and even enjoy some street art along the way.
