Copenhagen Downtown hostel is in the grey area of tourists and locals. The reason I would recommend you go here is not for the dormitory (I have no idea what they are like), but for the bar. It has some of the cheapest prices in inner Copenhagen and a very open crowd staying there. I often run in to other Danes coming here for a beer – 30 dkk for a draught beer can really pull in a Danish student like nothing else.
If you're heading out for a night on the town, I would recommend hitting the happy hour (from 20:00 - 21:00) for the "Watering Can". The watering can is a jug of a drink and it fits the whole table.
They have events almost every day varying from "red dress party" to "beer pong" tournaments. The staff is the last thing to top this place off. Friendly, happy and helpful. They want to party just as much as you do.
Go here for a start of your evening and get your cheap buzz on, then you can hit Zefside just around the corner, when you're ready to buy fancier cocktails and hit the hipster dance floor.
