I’ve never been much of a live classical music user. This is why I love Koncerthuset (the concert hall) – it has the same feel and expression as a classical music hall (which it is also used for). But a lot of rock, pop, and alternative concerts and shows are going on here as well.
Recently they held an “unplugged” series with a lot of Danish artists, sitting with nothing but their acoustic instruments and a microphone. The concert hall has beautiful acoustics and sound, so there is no need for anything more. Even though the hall is huge, it can seem so intimate in some settings. Even when pop and rock bands perform!
The scene is magical and the fact that you can see anything from rock and roll to the Danish girl choir leaves you with the experience of your desire. This means it’s not only the classical geeks who can enjoy this unique space.
If you go to their website, you can always check out what is on the calendar and they have shows every night (to make up for the many millions it went over budget when they built it), so you are sure to find something to your liking.
If a show is a bit too much, you can get a guided tour on weekdays (09:00 or 17:00) or on weekends (10:45 or 12:30).
