Ismageriet opened in 2005 in a house in a villa district, outside the city. It became extremely popular and ten years later (probably after many complaints from their neighbors) they moved their ice cream cafe closer to the city. Today they have two locations – the one in Dyssegård is my favorite (the other one is located close to the metro station Amagerbro). They make their own ice cream and it tastes amazing.
The ice cream makers have an admirable imagination: they serve ice cream with the taste of pretzel sticks, strawberry stracciatella, key lime pie, and many others. Every time you visit, there are tons of new flavors to choose from. When they ask you if you want “guf” on your ice cream, say yes! (it is basically unbaked meringue).
Don’t get frightened by the massive queue during summer nights, up to ten people work there every night just scooping ice cream for you so even if it is crowded – they are very efficient. It is well hidden, but the place also houses a small back garden where you can enjoy your ice cream.
