Mix Bazar is one of my daily must-go to places in my local area. I come here to breathe in the smells, listen to languages from completely different parts of the world and, most importantly, I come here because Mix Bazar has an enormous quantity of fresh fruits and vegetables and the variety is astounding. Inside the shop, you’ll find pickled wonders in glass jars, juices you’ll have never seen before and products unknown to the eyes of a Dane (who grew up in the countryside).
In many cities, different neighbourhoods are known for different trademarks, qualities, attributes and scenery that you won’t find elsewhere. The same goes for Copenhagen: each neighbourhood and area has its own unique touch, inhabitants and atmosphere. In my local area, the trademark is the bazaars, which you’ll find on almost every corner. The northwest of Copenhagen has a diverse population and I often just wander the streets of the area to clear my mind or to observe the people and places that you’ll find in the neighbourhood. No matter how far I walk or how twisted my road is, I always find myself ending up at Mix Bazar.
Although it’s fun to come here just for the sake of observing, I mainly shop at Mix Bazar to buy the best fruits and vegetables, and almost nothing is pre-packaged! If you don’t feel like going to this neighbourhood just for the bazaars, there are many cafés, bakeries and other shops to explore!
