Sitting at the end of the bar, I enjoy watching Andreas and Joe do what they are so good at, making the best coffee in town and putting this part of Copenhagen on the barista map. I have been coming to Roast Coffee since its opening in 2015, first in the tiny coffee bar and roastery in Thorshavngade and now at its present location in Vestmannagade, a wise decision as a healthy queue is growing. Roast Coffee has an uncluttered interior, designed by Andreas himself, where customers can mingle or simply enjoy the aromas from their cappuccinos. The vibe is predominately created by a loyal local following interacting with the baristas behind the bar, a feature I really enjoy.
Admirably, Roast Coffee is more than a roastery and coffee bar. Roast Coffee’s ambition of supplying a consistent high quality product is inevitably based on its unique cooperation with the farmers providing the core ingredient, the coffee bean. The 50-50 project guarantees the farmer 50% of the retail price, well over the standard price in Denmark, pointing hopefully to a fairer and sustainable future for the coffee industry For those who enjoy a quality brew made with love as I do, then join the queue. The wait is worth it.
