Sømods Sweet Shop or Sømods Candies was originally founded in 1891 and has been in the family since then, plus has the biggest honor a Danish shop can get to testify quality out of the ordinary: 100 years after its creation it became the supplier of the Royal Danish Court, personally granted by the Queen of Denmark at the time!
Pretty hidden even though very central, this little candy factory is the only one in the world that still uses the original production methods and material - and everything is 100% handmade to this day! You can actually see the candy makers while shopping, as the shop is separated with glass from the factory part. And that is the whole experience indeed! Very small shop, but it hosts 70 different kinds of candy, plus Christmas ornaments with the factory's façade and, of course, frames with all the certifications, the Queen, and newspaper mentions — pretty impressive!
A very sweet place, which, due to its location, a lot of people miss, very local, definitely to visit and buy candy, plus you get a stamp card for discounts or gifts when you reach 10 purchases. I personally recommend the rhubarb candy — a very acquired taste, but I think it's totally worth it!
