Wexford/Camden street has so many great bars and pubs that the Dubliners call it “The Camden Mile”. Against The Grain is one of the places along the street that are my top choices for a Camden St. night out.
The pub is opened by the Galway Bay Brewery, which also happens to own a few of my other Dublin favourites such as The Gasworks (or Salthouse for when you’re in Galway!). The brewery is where a lot of the beer list comes from, but of course it isn’t limited to that. They have around 30 beers on tap and countless in bottles, the options include all the Dublin favourites, but there are a lot of “hidden treasures” from Ireland and around the world, that would be hard to find elsewhere.
I also really like the atmosphere, it’s noisy and lots of fun downstairs but you can also have lunch or dinner upstairs in a more quiet setting. The pub also has a lot of promotions, such as the Crap Beer Amnesty night when you can exchange your bad beer for a pint from the Galway Bay Brewery.
