Bringing a little bit of the doughnut trend directly from NYC to the streets of Dublin is the newly opened Aungier Danger on Aungier Street. A tiny premises, selling deli style sandwiches and good coffee, it’s not unusual to see queues out the door or find that they have sold out of doughnuts. But don’t worry if this happens as they usually bake up a couple of batches throughout the day to meet demand.
And it’s no surprise that they do with such doughnuts on offer as Crime Scene, a red velvet dough with cream cheese filling and freshly chopped strawberries blended into the icing. Or the Dublin Death Trap with a vanilla-infused custard filling.
The sandwiches are equally tempting. Served on chia loaf or corn bread the pulled chicken and avocado is a particular favorite of mine. There’s excellent coffee from The Barn in Berlin too and from October 2016 a second, larger branch next door to Izakaya on Sth. Great George’s Street.
