Wherever you choose to head along Dublin Bay, you’re in for a great experience (especially if the weather is good, of course!). Dalkey is one of my favourite places, it’s a bit further down after Dun Laoghaire, but still easily reachable by a Dart train from town.
The town of Dalkey itself is very pretty and cosy. For history lovers there’s an old castle with a heritage centre, and it’s a real treat for those who like the seaside. It’s considered quite expensive even by Dublin standards, with the likes of Bono and Conor McGregor owning or renting property along the bay.
There’s quite a variety of scenic walks available; you can head straight to the seaside, for example, watch the boats or fishermen at the picturesque Coliemore Harbour, or go to Killiney Hill park. The area, as the name suggests, is quite hilly so there’s a bit of a climb, but the views are fantastic, especially on a sunny day. If you’re in for something more extreme, there are people practicing rock climbing there too! Also, Dalkey island is just a stone’s throw away, with ferry services available throughout the year.
