I love this place because of its Latin music and because in this place, people do dance! The music is very good and the atmosphere is great, it always gets busy for Friday nights from 21:00, the Latin Fever party whose inauguration I attended and knew straight away it was going to get to be one of the best nights in Dublin.
The location could not be better – River Bar is right in the centre of Dublin, right under the O’Connell Bridge House known as the “Heineken Building” by most people. Most bus routes and NiteLink Night Buses are right next to it.
I prefer the party downstairs which is more like a latin nightclub, however if I ever want to start learning how to dance salsa or bachata I’d definitely come here, which I believe is the best place for this, since there are always people dancing salsa and bachata on the main floor. They also have salsa and bachata classes from Sunday to Thursday (check salsadublin.com for timetables).
Drink prices are the usual for Dublin city centre, about 5-6€ a pint.
If you’re like me and you don’t like beer, try cider, I love it because it is sweet! My suggestions from less to more sweet: Bulmers, Orchard Thieves, Kopparberg Pear, Kopparberg Mixed Fruits, Kopparberg Strawberry & Lime.
They also have food during the day, never tried it, so I can’t comment on that 😉
Free entry almost always (may be paid for special events which don’t happen very often however)
