A plant shop or a garden centre might not be on a tourist’s radar when coming to Dublin, which can be understandable, with all the museums and parks to go to, and all the Guinness to drink. However, after a few days in the capital you might feel like wandering off the beaten track, and that’s when a visit to Urban Plant Life might be welcome.
I’ve always seen it as a bit more than “just a plant shop”, mostly because it doesn’t even look like a shop, but almost like a tiny botanic garden. The large plant and tree section might make you feel like you’re in a park, in the middle of which you will suddenly stumble upon a vintage piano (anyone welcome to play) or Jess the resident cat. And the cactus and succulent room feels a bit like a desert!
I wouldn’t call myself a proud plant lady, but I do enjoy an occasional visit to the oasis that to me is Urban Plant Life. It gives me a real sense of tranquility and happiness even if I don’t buy anything. And true, you might not be able to bring an Irish plant home with you, but you can always buy seeds as a souvenir 😉
